Main duties of the job

The service is delivered through four sites: St JamesUniversity Hospital (SJUH), Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), Wharfdale GeneralHospital and Seacroft Hospital.
Thisis a non-training post, however, it allows the post holder, includingapplicants who already hold CCT, to gain experience that will help to securefuture posts.
As a Maternal Medicine Centre our service leads on theprovision of specialist care to high-risk women across Yorkshire and Humberthrough a large selection of MDT clinics (diabetes, endocrinology, cardiology,haematology, rheumatology, renal, gastro-intestinal and maternal medicineclinics). The successful candidate will be given dedicated sessions to work inthese clinics, as well as have an opportunity to be involved in local andregional MDT meetings, QI projects and service development. Following recent national restructuring ofmaternal medicine services, Leeds is one of only two Maternal Medicine Centresin Yorkshire with a large catchment area offering preconception and maternitycare to very high risk women across the region. Working here will thereforegive the successful candidate an excellent learning opportunity and expertisein the management of women with significant medical problems.
About us
TheGynaecology service in Leeds is led by a large number of Consultants &Nurse specialists who deliver clinical expertise in Benign Gynaecology, EarlyPregnancy & Acute Gynaecology, Urogynaecology, Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy& Reproductive Medicine. The CSU provides a full secondary and tertiaryservice for Leeds, Yorkshire & significant parts of the North of England. A£1 million development housing the Leeds gynaecology day-case unit, & acutegynaecology & early pregnancy unit (GATU & EPU) opened on ward J24 atSt Jamess at the end of March 2015. Known as the Leeds Centre for WomensHealth this is a very exciting development for the team, and is the fulcrum ofall the teams plans for modernising pathways, increasing productivity andreducing length of stay. The SJUH Maternity Unit, deals with approximately 4,500 deliveries peryear. The LGI Maternity Unit, has around 5,200 deliveries per annum.
