Job Title: Clinical Fellow with Interest in Endometriosis

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Fellow to join our Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a friendly, dynamic, and large teaching acute hospital trust.

Main Duties:

The successful candidate will be an integral part of our service, taking part in direct clinical care, remote consultations, leading or assisting on the preparation of endometriosis MDT, pelvic pain MDT, and endometriosis clinics, theatre lists including robotics.

The post holder will also be encouraged to take part in research and audit projects in endometriosis and pelvic pain. Our department is research active and currently recruiting to NIHR portfolio and commercial studies in endometriosis.

About Us:

Our department provides almost all sub-specialities in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The LTHT Endometriosis Service is specially commissioned to deliver endometriosis care to the patients of Leeds. It consists of a multidisciplinary team that is able to assess and treat women with all grades of endometriosis ranging from mild disease to the most severe form involving the bladder, bowel, and thoracic endometriosis.

We work in close collaboration with colorectal surgeons, urologists, thoracic and plastic surgeons.

Person Specification:

  • Essential:
    • Completed post-graduate training at least to a level of an ST3 specialty doctor or equivalent in obstetrics and gynaecology
    • Possess or eligible to apply for GMC Registration
    • Familiarity with UK health system and NHS
    • Is up to date and fit to practise safely and is aware of own training needs.
    • Applicants must have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English, adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as assessed by the GMC
  • Desirable:
    • Shows aptitude for practical skills, manual dexterity
    • Relevant experience in other specialties which would complement a post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
    • At least 2 years experience working in the UK
    • At least 1 year experience working at middle grade (ST3+) in UK
    • Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues
    • Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and clinical quality improvement initiatives
    • Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-informed practice
    • Demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication, and capacity to adapt language to the situation, as appropriate
    • Capacity to use logical/lateral thinking to solve problems/make decisions, indicating an analytical/scientific approach.
    • Capacity to take in others perspectives and treat others with understanding; sees patients as people
    • Able to work in multi-professional teams and supervise junior medical staff

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • MBBS or equivalent medical degree qualification
    • Completion of Foundation competencies or equivalent
    • Basic Adult Life Support training within past 12/12
    • MRCOG Part 1
    • Competencies equivalent to ST3 training
