About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical and Research Fellow to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate will play a key role in the coordination of research activities, working closely with Professor Giannoudis and other senior staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and facilitate the recruitment of patients in clinical trials.
  • Support medical staff in obtaining patient records and maintain databases to ensure accurate documentation of research activities.
  • Organise the research meeting of the department and produce frequent reports reflecting the overall work of the unit.
  • Attend courses and present at national and international meetings to promote the research portfolio of the unit.
  • Deliver end-user training in the use of departmental database systems to ensure high-quality data.
About the Team

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery department is a large unit contributing to both service delivery and academic research. We have a team of 34 Consultants, including a Professor of Trauma Surgery, and a range of other staff members, including Clinical Research Fellows, Trust Grade doctors, and clinical nurse specialists.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following experience and skills:

  • 5 years of experience after full GMC registration or equivalent.
  • More than 2 years of experience in Orthopaedic Surgery at ST3+ level.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Surgical specialties by the time of intended start date.
  • Eligibility for full registration with the GMC and a current licence to practise.
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics.
