About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical/Research Fellow to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. The successful candidate will play a key role in the coordination of research activities within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications and facilitate the recruitment of patients in clinical trials.
  • Support medical staff in obtaining patient records and maintain databases to ensure accurate documentation of research activities.
  • Organise research meetings and produce regular reports reflecting the overall work of the unit.
  • Attend courses and present at national and international meetings to promote the research portfolio of the department.
  • Deliver end-user training in the use of departmental database systems to ensure high-quality data.

The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a leading centre for trauma and orthopaedic surgery, providing services to patients across the region. The department is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and conducting innovative research to improve outcomes.

Person Specification

  • 5 years of experience in a relevant field, with evidence of achievement of foundation competences.
  • More than 2 years of experience in Orthopaedic Surgery at ST3+ level.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and hold a current licence to practise from the GMC.
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics.
