This is a post for applicants with anaesthesia and intensive care medicine (ICM) experience at CT (or equivalent) level as the post rotates through general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and ICM.

The post is ideal for applicants between CT and higher anaesthesia / ICM training. We welcome applicants who are currently in the process of applying for a training post in anaesthesia / ICM. During your time with us, you will be able to complete all of the necessary competencies for Stage 1 top-up training in Anaesthesia over 12-15 months in this post. Please do not apply if you do not have this required experience.

The post is required to meet the increasing demand for anaesthetic and Critical Care services within the Trust. The post will be a combination of service, teaching and out of hours, rotating between general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and Intensive Care for periods of 3-6 months by arrangement. NB with respect to Intensive Care, there will be a mix of clinical commitments at Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Surgical Specialities include Day Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, ENT/Max Fax, Trauma & Orthopaedic, Upper GI, Hepatobiliary, Colorectal and Thoracic Surgery. General and Obstetric Anaesthesia sessions will be mainly based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, St Michael's Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital, but may also include South Bristol Community Hospital.

Some Critical Care sessions will be undertaken in the Trust's 28 bedded General Intensive Care Unit at Bristol Royal Infirmary and some at Weston General Hospital. You will join a highly motivated team of medical nursing and allied health professionals and work in a busy, thriving, well supported Unit. You would participate in a 1 in 5 full shift rota and would be encouraged to participate in audit and research.

This role is an ideal opportunity for boosting your CV or as a stepping stone on your training program. You will be allocated an educational supervisor with regular meetings to tailor your developmental needs.

Registered with General Medical Council (UK) At least 18 months Full-time hospital service as an anaesthetist / critical care trainee in the CT (or equivalent) grade. Initial test of competency (CT)
