Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine Clinical Fellow

Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) Full time

Position Overview

This role is tailored for candidates possessing experience in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine (ICM) at the CT level or its equivalent. The position encompasses rotations through general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, and ICM.

This opportunity is particularly suited for individuals transitioning from CT to advanced training in anaesthesia or ICM. We invite those who are actively pursuing a training position in anaesthesia or ICM to consider this role. Throughout your tenure, you will have the chance to fulfill all necessary competencies for Stage 1 top-up training in Anaesthesia over a duration of 12-15 months. Please refrain from applying if you do not meet the essential experience criteria.

The position has been established to address the growing demand for anaesthetic and critical care services within the Trust. It will involve a blend of service delivery, educational responsibilities, and out-of-hours commitments, rotating between general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, and intensive care for periods of 3-6 months as per arrangements.

Main Responsibilities

The surgical specialties include Day Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, ENT/Maxillofacial, Trauma & Orthopaedic, Upper GI, Hepatobiliary, Colorectal, and Thoracic Surgery. General and obstetric anaesthesia sessions will primarily take place at designated hospitals, with potential inclusion of community hospitals.

Critical care sessions will be conducted in the Trust's General Intensive Care Unit and other facilities. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals in a dynamic and well-supported environment. Participation in a full shift rota (1 in 5) is expected, along with opportunities to engage in audit and research initiatives.

This position serves as an excellent opportunity to enhance your CV or as a stepping stone in your training pathway. An educational supervisor will be assigned to you, ensuring regular meetings to address your developmental needs.
