Role Overview: This position is designed for applicants with experience in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine (ICM) at the Core Training (CT) level or equivalent. The role will involve rotations through general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, and ICM.
Ideal Candidates: We are particularly interested in candidates who are at the CT level or are progressing towards higher training in anaesthesia or ICM. This role offers the opportunity to complete essential competencies for Stage 1 top-up training in Anaesthesia over a period of 12-15 months. Please note that applicants must possess the required experience.
Service Demand: This position has been established to address the growing need for anaesthetic and critical care services within our Trust. The role will encompass a blend of service delivery, educational responsibilities, and out-of-hours commitments, rotating between general anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, and intensive care for durations of 3-6 months as arranged.
Surgical Specialties: Surgical specialties involved include Day Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, ENT/Maxillofacial, Trauma & Orthopaedic, Upper GI, Hepatobiliary, Colorectal, and Thoracic Surgery. General and Obstetric Anaesthesia sessions will primarily take place at various hospitals within our Trust.
Critical Care Sessions: Some critical care responsibilities will be conducted in our 28-bedded General Intensive Care Unit and other facilities. You will be part of a dedicated team of medical professionals and allied health staff, working in a dynamic and supportive environment. Participation in a 1 in 5 full shift rota is expected, along with opportunities to engage in audit and research activities.
Professional Development: This role presents an excellent opportunity to enhance your CV and serves as a stepping stone in your training journey. You will be assigned an educational supervisor who will hold regular meetings to tailor your professional development needs.
