Job Title: Business Development Manager Location: Midlands (Hybrid – office, customer visits, and WFH)
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + 20% OTE bonus + £500/month car allowance
Our client is a private equity–backed engineering services business and is seeking a Business Development Manager. As implied by the job title, the role is focused on new business development—this is not a farming role You will play a key part in driving sales of specialist engineering services to the F&B and pharmaceutical sector, to name just two.
You will be responsible for generating new opportunities, qualifying prospects, running outreach sequences, and arranging discovery meetings that convert into business. The company is highly structured, with excellent back-office systems and CRM processes in place.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities
• Conduct structured outreach campaigns using digital tools (LinkedIn, email sequences, phone) and person-to-person engagement
• Pass qualified accounts seamlessly to the internal ‘farming’ team for ongoing relationship management
• Track and manage all activity within the CRM and outreach platform
• Meet weekly/monthly targets for new customer meetings and outreach activity
Some technical knowledge in electrical or engineering solutions preferred (e.g., trade counter, direct sales)
• Strong digital selling skills, balanced with traditional relationship-building abilities
• Ability to manage outreach sequences effectively (4–6 weeks) to generate qualified leads
