Pertemps Network Group is delighted to partner with Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce as their retained recruitment advisor for the appointment of a new Head of Commercial into their fantastic team based out of their Prestwick Airport HQ in South Ayrshire.
Accredited by both the British and Scottish Chamber of Commerce, the Ayrshire Chamber is a not-for-profit membership organisation which supports over 800 member businesses, in addition to the successful delivery of various projects including the Ayrshire arm of Developing the Young Workforce.

The Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce is made up of a small, but extremely hard-working team, dedicated and committed to providing our members with the opportunities to grow, develop and improve their business with an excellent range of services from networking, mentoring and events to promote Ayrshire businesses.

They are one of 30 accredited members of Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC), supporting business interests across Scotland and representing 50% of the private sector workforce. In addition to their local and regional influence, they are part of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).

Their engagement with SCC & BCC also provides connection to the international network of over 12,000 chambers.
The Chamber Team have undergone some change over the last 2 years – a new CEO and a fresh membership tier system along with developing performance metrics.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Head of Commercial will hold broad responsibility across staff team disciplines to drive commercial revenue.
The post will hold responsibility for identifying new commercial opportunities – again to drive revenue and increase revenue spread.
This role will provide key support to the Chief Executive and Board in delivering on key strategic deliverables and will therefore, over a short period of time, require a high degree of familiarisation with all aspects of the Chamber business, operational effectiveness and commercial inputs and outputs.

Proven track record of operating in the private sector.
Proven track record in business-to-business account management or relationship role, and associated report prep to Senior/Director level

Business related qualification or comparable professional training and experience
Working knowledge of local, regional, and national business eco system and capability to forge collaborative relationships in these areas
Knowledge of the Ayrshire economic landscape and business community
Strong sales leadership and commercial acumen
Team working, Coaching and team development
Good planning and time management skills
Excellent networking skills and ability to develop effective working partnerships
Strong time management and prioritisation.

Position Head of Commercial
Working pattern Full time (35 hours per week), Permanent (office based / out with clients)

• Training
• support to develop a high-quality programme of training that fits the needs of members
• drive commercial revenues- maximise existing member benefits & services activity
• develop appropriate (profitable) new revenue streams by identifying contracts / projects which fit and challenge the skill set of existing Team
• Develop and deliver a bid strategy for public and private sector contracts to drive long-term revenue growth and improve quality of earnings.

Line Management Responsibilities
manage all staff in line with company policies
• monitor performance to ensure targets are hit
• manage poor performance as required

The Head of Commercial will report to the CEO and may at times, be requested to undertake work or research directly by the Board of Directors to assist the CEO.
Attendance at Board Meetings may be required on an ad hoc or invitation basis.
