Role Purpose


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Commercial Partnerships to join the national governing body, Motorsport UK, leading the acquisition of new commercial partners and sponsors to for the organisation. Motorsport UK represents over 70,000 competitors and volunteers and over 700 clubs at the heart of motorsport. Under the leadership of the Chairman, David Richards CBE, we have invested in an exciting period of change to drive growth and create a sustainable future for motorsport in the UK.



Primary Objectives


Central to this role is your ability to apply your ability to drive new and recurring commercial partner revenues into Motorsport UK.


Your responsibilities as Head of Commercial Partnerships will include:

  • New partner acquisition: Delivering new partnership revenues and leading on all new Commercial Partnership acquisitions across all Motorsport UK properties including; British Rally Championship, British Kart Championships, British F4 Championship, Girls on Track UK, StreetCar, Motorsport UK Academy, Sustainability & EDI Projects, Marshals & Volunteers, FIA Motorsport Games, Safety and other major events, championships and campaigns
  • Partner & Relationship Management: Responsible for account and relationship management of all contracted commercial partners ensuing timely rights delivery and continuity of business and contracts
  • Line Management: day-to-day line managing of Commercial Assistant, setting targets and direction for work streams
  • Commercial Tenders: Support in any product or service tenders that might relate to Motorsport UK owned and operated championships– fuel, tyres lubricant etc.
  • Providing commercial and partnership-based insight with internal projects and stakeholders across the organisation
  • Performance & Monitoring: Responsibility for the monitoring and reporting of commercial funnels and partnership results
  • Budget Management: Ownership of Commercial partnership budgets
  • Representation: Motorsport UK representation among networking bodies and industry organisations as required


Knowledge, Skills, Aptitude


  • A passion, understanding and appreciation of motorsport on many different levels, specifically Rallying, circuit racing and karting
  • Managing opportunities through the sales funnel from opportunity outreach proposal to contract
  • A commitment to getting out and about at a number of UK motorsport and other events, networking and building relationships
  • A passion and pride in delivering high quality work with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent commercial and communication skills to negotiate a good deal
  • A confident and effective communicator of your ideas with good presentation skills and the confidence to explain and sell ideas, while overcoming objections
  • Time management skills and the ability to cope with numerous projects
  • Highly conversant in the range of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to generate meaningful insight on which to develop business cases
  • Being open to feedback and willing to make changes to your work
  • A thirst for knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement
  • A flexible, responsive and can-do attitude


Person Profile


  • A demonstratable track record in securing significant third-party commercial partner revenue for sports propositions
  • A background and creative flair in developing new products, services, commercial portfolios and partnerships and delivering sustained business growth
  • You will likely have performed a similar role with a membership agency or sports property
  • You will be a self-starter, capable of working autonomously.
  • You will be equally at home conceiving and developing plans for products and services as all-new events to commercialise and getting your sleeves rolled up, attending events and being a face of the organisation while delivering on the ground.
  • You are highly organised and capable of managing a broad and ambitious workload and prioritising accordingly.
  • You will understand the importance of working collaboratively with partners to deliver projects.
  • We operate in a fast-moving world and you will be expected to keep abreast of the environment, thinking on your feet, and applying yourself accordingly
  • Motorsport happens mostly at the weekends, so you will be available to support numerous events throughout the year
