Would you like to provide leadership to the community mental health service in Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay?

Argyll and Bute Health and Social care partnership extends over 6,700 square kilometres with 23 inhabited islands and around 17% of the population lives on islands and with a coastline of more than 3,000km almost 80% of the population lives within one kilometre of the sea.

An opportunity has arisen within the Argyll and Bute Social care partnership for a Team Leader for the Community Mental Health Service within the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay locality.

The Candidate will hold a relevant health qualification (for example: Nurse/AHP) with current valid registration with a regulatory body (for example, NMC/HCPC etc), educated to degree level or equivalent experience. Candidates will have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience in mental health, and have experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision. The candidate will provide professional advice and support to other members of the multi-disciplinary team and to other agencies, have responsibility for strategic development of the team, liaising with locality leads, mental health leads and other agencies. The candidate will be responsible for providing day to day operational management of the Community Mental Health Team, ensuring provision of a high quality mental health service which is efficient, effective, well organised, responsive, needs led and user focused, to people with mild to severe mental health problems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the team works cohesively and that NHS Highland protocols and guidelines are in place to enable the team members to practice within the service framework. The successful candidate will assist in taking forward local and national strategies to develop community mental health practice therefore will require excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills.

Evidence of personal and professional development is highly desirable

Computer literacy and driving licence is essential.
