Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic and clinically experienced Deputy Chief Clinical Information Officer (DCCIO) to join our NHS Trust. This role is pivotal in supporting the Chief Clinical Information Officer in leading the digital transformation of our clinical services, both in our acute hospital setting and across our community care services.
You will be expected to work closely with the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) team, Health Informatics Service (HIS) and other digital providers for the trust. You will also work with members of the wider Trust leadership team to support the delivery of safe, effective and high quality clinical services.
This post is less than full-time (5 PAs), however, we have a range of clinical teams within the organisation that might benefit from additional suitably qualified clinical colleagues. We encourage potential applicants from outside the organisation to contact us for more information.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy CCIO role is critical in bridging the gap between clinical practice and information technology in the Trust. This position will be pivotal in the implementation of the Trust EPR. You will work with clinical colleagues to develop new, digitally enabled pathways, and ensure that transformation process is clinically driven. Thiswill require experience in clinical practice and ideally experience in clinical management. Most importantly it requiresan understanding of and passion for digital technology's potential in the clinical setting. You will work in the Trust along side the EPR and Health Informatics Team. As Deputy CCIO you will also engage withstaff at every level throughout the organisation, including the community and beyond your own clinical areas. You will help develop and deliver a digital strategy which aligns with the Trust and wider clinical strategies. This will be to ensure that technologyserves to advance clinical care, improve clinical outcomes and safety, increase productivity and better the user experience. Strategic Leadership
You will work closely with the CCIO to develop and execute a digital strategy that aligns with the Trusts overall objectives. You will actas a champion for digital transformation within the Trust, advocating for the adoption of technology in healthcare practices. You will collaborate with senior management to ensure that digital initiatives support clinical goals and improve patient care.Clinical Engagement
You will serve as a liaison between the Health Informatics Service (HIS) and clinical staff, ensuring that technology solutions meet the needs of clinicians and support safe, effective patient care. You will lead engagement initiatives to involve clinicians in the selection, development and implementation of EPR modules, and other digital tools and systems. You will facilitate feedback loops between clinical users and IT developers to ensure continuous improvement of digital services. You will coordinate with clinical departments and services to ensure smooth deployment of the EPR, and subsequent upgrades, into existing workflows.Governance, Clinical Safety and Compliance
You will ensure that digital health initiatives comply with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, including data protection laws and clinical safety requirements. You will participate in governance committees to oversee the secure and effective use of clinical information systems. This will include contributing to the development of policies and procedures that govern the use of digital technologies in clinical settings.Training and Development
Along side the CCIO and CNIO you will lead the development of training programs for clinical staff on new systems and technologies, ensuring high levels of digital literacy across the Trust. This will include identifying and addressing any skill gaps among clinical staff regarding the use of digital tools, promoting a culture of continuous learning.Innovation and Research
You will be expected to stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in digital healthcare, evaluating their potential application within the Trust. This will be reflected in the SPA allocation to the role. You will foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration and implementation of novel solutions to clinical challenges. You will work with the Research & Development Department to support clinical research projects and research into digital technologies. Person Specification
