A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for the leadership of the Lung Cancer Screening Programme within a defined patient group.

Able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. The leader should be able to provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their screening process.

·The TLHC Nurse Manager has on-going responsibility for the day-to-day management of TLHC service, including the assessment process, service improvement initiatives, implementation and evaluation of local and national programme standards and service protocols.

·The TLHC Nurse Manager will facilitate innovative and evidence-based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.

·The TLHC Nurse Manager will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally and achieve their maximum potential.

·The TLHC Nurse Manager will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.

· May act as the Responsible Assessor for the TLHC service.

Main duties of the job

·To communicate highly sensitive condition related information to patients and relatives.

·To use specialist knowledge and advanced communication skills with patients while reviewing them in the ‘virtual’, primary and secondary care setting.

·Will provide empathy and reassurance regarding the sensitive nature of the information being relayed to them.

·Demonstrate excellent communication skills when dealing with difficult situations.

·To act as a resource to provide specialist knowledge and expertise to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals.

·Support the provision of helpline services run from the hub by resolving queries referred by them to the screening centre.

·To provide advice, information and support for those making direct contact with the screening centre.

Facilitate communication, which results in clear responsibilities being identified within the multi-professional screening team. Organise, attend and be an active member of National/local meetings and working groups. Ensure that patient concerns are addressed and work with the Patient Advisory and Liaison Service (PALS) and patient forums. Participate in the resolution of complaints / adverse incidents and implement action plans to prevent re-occurrence. Hold regular departmental meetings as a means to provide an opportunity to share information and suggestions and to problem solve. Working for our organisation
