This is an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join the firm's expanding in-house legal team, led by the team's Head of In-House Legal. Aside from supporting the firm in contract review, engagement arrangements with clients and data privacy the role will play a key part in advising on business initiatives and projects. The team also advises on professional conduct and regulatory matters, complaints, and third-party claims. It is a varied role, working in close collaboration with all parts of the General Counsel team and supporting the global Walkers business.
Although the role encompasses data privacy, we are not looking for a data protection specialist; the role is extremely varied in content and would suit a lawyer who enjoys bringing their broad legal experience to a commercial and innovative environment.
Duties, Responsibilities & Person Specification- Supporting the Head of In-House Legal and General Counsel on legal and regulatory and professional conduct issues impacting the firm
- Reviewing and negotiating client terms, supporting the Marketing and Business Development team in reviewing Panel terms and outside counsel terms and policies; developing and improving our suite of engagement document.
- Providing legal support on project initiatives and on the introduction of new technologies; considering the use and application of , and advising on, Artificial Intelligence processes
- Reviewing and negotiating third party supplier contracts
- Drafting and reviewing NDAs and other contractual documents
- Drafting and maintaining internal business management / service level agreements
- Reviewing and maintaining the firm's Data Protection framework; reviewing Data Protection Agreements, drafting Data Privacy Impact Assessments and advising on data protection issues generally
- Supporting on Data Subject Access Requests
- Drafting and updating global policies requiring legal input, including business protection policies and procedures
- Creating and delivering training
- Investigating complaints and potential claims
- Qualified lawyer with experience in commercial legal practice and/or in a risk management role
- Data protection knowledge/experience
- Experience working in an international law firm preferred
- Excellent commercial awareness with a pragmatic attitude and international outlook
- High level of professional competence, rigour, and judgment
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Confident and credible when dealing with internal stakeholders
- Take ownership of matters and pro-active in finding solutions
