We are looking for a data privacy lawyer qualified in England and Wales and/or the EU who has experience advising on data protection and privacy matters to work on a freelance basis to support our busy team of knowledge development lawyers with the regular maintenance of Lexology PRO’s data protection practical resources. This will involve reviewing and updating How-to guides, Checklists and Quick views, to ensure relevant legislation, case law, regulation and guidance is updated and referenced appropriately and accurately and that the materials continue to be accurate and current, and that they reflect best practices. We anticipate that the successful candidate will have at least three years of experience advising corporate entities on data protection and privacy (either in private practice or in-house). At present we have data protection resources that cover both the EU and UK and ideally would be looking for someone that is able to review and update both.

This project-based work would be ideal for someone seeking flexible work that could perhaps complement other part-time work or consultancy commitments. We would be looking to build a long-term relationship and for the right candidate with a desire to do so, there may be the opportunity to also create new resources within the area of data protection and privacy. What you will be doing

• Thoroughly reviewing the Lexology Pro UK commercial practical resources, and updating and amending where required, to ensure relevant legislation, case law regulation and guidance is updated and referenced appropriately and accurately and that the materials continue to be accurate and current
• Liaising closely with Lexology PRO team and adhering to agreed timeframes for production of content
 

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Lawyer qualified in England and Wales (solicitor or barrister) and/or the EU with at least three years’ recent experience advising on data privacy matters, either in private practice or in-house, who is able to update Lexology PRO’s UK and/or EU data protection and privacy practical resources; Up-to-date knowledge of the law and market practice in the area of data protection and privacy; Good understanding of legal workflows and the practical needs of (in particular) in-house lawyers, as well as private practice and the legal market generally; Excellent written English with a clear, succinct style; Demonstrable experience in writing practical legal content that is concise and easy to digest; Self-motivated; and Ability to effectively manage own time to ensure work completed efficiently and to agreed timescales.
