Main duties of the job

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of transforming the cancer workforce across Wessex, integrating, and upskilling the generalist and specialist cancer workforce to improve patient will work closely with the project leads across the Alliance leading on the operationalisation of the ACCEND framework with Nursing teams across our partner organisations in Wessex, develop and support the role of cancer nursing legacy mentors and bring partnership expertise to our clinical work programmes. You will be part of the wider Wessex Cancer Alliance team who together provide expertise and support across all facets of cancer services across all stakeholder groups locally and working with regional and national colleagues as part of the wider cancer WCA team work flexibly and you will be able to blend working from home, and office-based working along with the requirement to build sustainable relationships through face-to-face visits with professionals within their workplaces across Wessex.

Key Responsibilities

Use your expert knowledge of health care services and non-medical workforce to develop and lead specific workforce transformation projects related to integration and development of the workforce across primary, secondary and community cancer care leading to improved patient experience; evaluating the impact of transformation and sharing this locally, regionally and nationally. Encourage and enthuse others to implement change at many levels, from local department improvements to broad implementation of national initiatives and directives. Developing positive and effective relationships and building trust will be a key part of being successful in this role. You will have experience across primary, secondary, community and voluntary services, have a clear understanding of clinical processes and pathways and be able to support a wider integration programme to include all of our partners. Ensure that the patient and our population at large, remain at the heart of all the transformation work you do, explicitly seeking feedback, co-designing, and collaborating with the public and the WCA patient and public group to shape the project work.

The successful candidate will:

Be able to work with a high degree of autonomy, shaping transformation projects and supporting and enabling colleagues to do the same. You will have a history of working with nursing teams at a strategic level to influence and develop clinical services. Also the insight and understanding in relation to the ACCEND work and understand the components of operationalising the work across Wessex. Be a strong leader, with a sense of vocation and a strong value set, driven to improve cancer services for our population. Have a high degree of personal resilience when working with our stakeholders and can proficiently navigate challenging discussions and mitigate risks and issues working with our partners. Need to be able and happy to travel as part of this role as a requirement is to work across the cancer services in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. A track record of successfully working in partnership with an extensive knowledge of the local healthcare system.

Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in a health care setting. Member of relevant professional body - where appropriate.
