Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Information Systems team as a Data Quality Officer. The post will be focused on reviewing data quality reports related to the Trusts digital systems. This will be a pivotal role in ensuring systems run optimally.

We are looking for individuals with good attention to detail, proficiency in working from spreadsheets, ability to prioritise workload and working to specified deadlines. The successful candidate will be required to work through various reports as determined by the project requirements and on other data related tasks as required. The candidate will be part of a larger team and their is scope for development.

Experience in data entry and use of Microsoft Office applications is essential.

Main duties of the job

This post is a crucial post to support the Trust in having confidence in the quality of the information it provides internally and externally. The role will support the Trust in the correcting of data for all areas, and in doing so improve the patient record.

The Officer will work as part of the Information Systems team ensuring data is correctly recorded on the Patient Administration system to enable delivery of timely patient care.

The post-holder will need to exercise initiative and use independent judgement, knowledge and analysis to check details recorded within the patients' journey reflect a true record of events to date. The post-holder will need to have a keen eye for detail and be comprehensive in their investigations.

Job responsibilities

Regular validation of system errors, this will require knowledge of the Trust systems, the causes of the errors and resolving the issue.

Regular validation of the common user errors, including investigating cause of error, resolving conflicting information and sourcing data from a range of sources.

Ensure data correction is undertaken to guarantee accurate patient data is held on Patient Administration & Clinical systems for reporting and other purposes.

Review data extracts and validate event dates against patient care information held electronically and within paper records to determine the correct information to be recorded on Patient Administration & Clinical Systems.

Validation of the end of month submissions to ensure all pathways are correct

To ensure relevant Trust policies are implemented, maintained, monitored and reviewed across all sites.

Any other duties/responsibilities as delegated by the manager as deemed appropriate to the role

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Experience of Microsoft Office applications including Excel and the use of the internet as a resource. Experience of working both independently and in a team orientated collaborative environment.

Desirable

Worked in a Health Care Environment Working in data entry, data quality, health information or health care records experience

Personal Attributes

Essential

Effective team player Capable of working under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Flexible approach to working hours to meet the needs of the service

Qualifications

Essential

5 GCSEs at A to C or equivalent

Desirable

To have obtained an IT qualification/actively pursuing it.

Skills, Knowledge and Aptitudes

Essential

Competent user of the intermediate functions of Microsoft Excel/Access/Word Good written and verbal communication skills. Methodical with strong attention to accuracy and detail Ability to work under own initiative, to prioritise and plan workload. Ability to work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines. An awareness of the importance of Confidentiality in a health care setting. Advanced IT and keyboard skills

Desirable

Good data verification skills to check for accuracy of input. Knowledge of Local Patient Information systems/Databases , including NHS Data Dictionary and NHS Information standards. Understanding of NHS data quality issues. Knowledge of national policy, guidance and legislation in relation to patient information and NHS activity reporting.
