Clinical Nurse Specialist - Paediatric Neurodevelopmental Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Community Paediatric Team to support the neurodevelopmental pathway for children under the age of 5 that are referred to the service.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside the Paediatricians , delivering nurse led follow up appointments for neurodevelopmental assessments that will support the diagnostic pathway. You will also be involved in delivering post diagnostic support for families where a child has been diagnosed with ASD ensuring that families are given information needed to support their child's ongoing care and developmental needs. The role also requires you to deliver annual reviews for children and young people up to the age of 18 with ADHD,

This role involves liaising with a range of health professionals ensuring that the pathway for children with neurodevelopmental delay is as efficient as it can be and effective in supporting children to reach their potential.

The service covers an area of Surrey and this post will work alongside another CNS roles epilepsy.

The post holder will be expected to know what is available to families in the area the service covers ensuring that whilst waiting for a full assessment the child / family have access to a range of 'Early Help' services that will inform the assessment process

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse - Child or Registered Adult Nurse with Health Visiting qualification Relevant degree level qualification Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visiting, School Nursing, Community Children's Nursing

Desirable

Mentorship Course Qualification / module or significant relevant experience within a specialist area Masters qualification - working towards or equivalent experience ADOS-2 / ADI-R training / Nurse prescribing V300

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

Recent post registration experience in a specialist practitioner role working with children with neurodevelopmental issues such as ADHD and ASD Experience of planning, managing and co-ordinating programmes of care in collaboration with other allied health professionals, social, education and volunteer agencies Experience caring autonomously for complex children and families Experience of undertaking clinical audit and evaluation Experience in contributing towards service and policy development and review Demonstrable experience of partnership working across agencies and organisations Experience using evidence based assessment tools Have a sound knowledge of child development

Desirable

Recentexperiencein teaching and assessing in clinical practice Experience supporting children and families with sleep and behavioural interventions Experience triaging referrals Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary assessment and care plans. Experience of safeguarding children and families Experience managing a caseload Experience of undertaking clinical supervision
