The Role
As a Commercial Manager, you will be a key player in supporting the Senior Contracts and Procurement Manager and the Head of Contracts and Procurement. This role is an exceptional opportunity to grow professionally, develop your expertise, and make a tangible impact on our procurement processes and sustainability initiatives.
What you will be doing:
- Advising on specifications, evaluating tenders, and implementing the Procurement Strategy.
- Identifying new business opportunities and developing supplier relationships through site visits and networking.
- Handling daily management of waste contracts, resolving issues, and organising contract review meetings.
- Gathering and reporting market data to support future procurement activities.
- Creating business cases for new services, ensuring our Contract Register is up to date.
- Assisting in preparing Business Plans, Annual Reports, and Committee reports, and managing procurement meetings with suppliers.
- Committing to personal development, mentoring others, and promoting WLWA's positive image and values.
What We're Looking For
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Experience in managing public sector procurements and contracts, including digital procurement processes.
- Strong project and programme management skills with the ability to handle complex contracts.
- A track record of fostering a responsive and innovative working culture.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovative service delivery.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience in the resources and waste sector is desirable but not essential.
