Job summary

A secondment opportunity has arisen on Monet Ward our Acute Inpatient ward for a Deputy Ward Manager.

We are looking for astute, dynamic and compassionate registered nurses and welcome a diversity of skill and knowledge.

We are seeking nurses who are trained in either mental health, learning disability or general nursing to support the diverse challenges clinicians face.

Monet Ward is a 20 beddedMale ward which provides a safe and supportive environment to aid patients in their recovery.

The ward caters for patients within the ages of 18-65 years living in the boroughs of Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Havering and B&D who are displaying high risk of harm towards themselves and other people. Who are unable to stay on acute wards and need intensive support around their treatment and recovery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder must have inpatient experience, it is desirable that you would have previously worked in a PICU.

The post holder will be joining a multi-disciplinary team that is committed to the provision of high quality patient centred care for all who use the service. The ward teams has a strong nurse leadership including Staff Nurses, Band 6 Clinical Leads & Deputy Ward Managers, Ward Manager as well as a Modern Matron who provides operational and clinical leadership This nursing establishment seeks to ensure greater support to our junior staff and also optimises future career prospects within the acute care pathway.

You may already be in a Band 6 role and seeking a different challenge or you may be an experienced band 5 looking for carer progression .

The post holder will:

Be responsible for recording monitoring and reporting on clinical work at the time of referral, during on-going work and for evaluation purposes as consistent with the policies and protocols of the trust To enter data into case notes, RIO on a regular basis as required by NELFT. Ensure patient records are up-to-date and comply with defensible documentation. To input clinical information onto RIO promptly and accurately. Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms, taking into account the ethical professional and legal aspects of care including provision and communication with relevant others

About us

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. High Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436).

The post holder will;

Build effective relationships with service users and carers. Ensure that relatives and carers of service users, where appropriate, have a good understanding of the condition of the service user and feel able to communicate effectively with the clinical area to answer any queries or concerns. Provide an effective alternative to hospital admission. Provide effective liaison between Services. To respect other disciplines viewpoints and communication with service users, carers, relatives, GPs, other professionals and agencies as appropriate. To work in partnership with referring agency to develop joint care plans. To be responsible for communicating complex clinical information to a variety of recipients ( families and other professionals), both verbally and in writing. To work jointly and collaboratively with NELFT colleagues in order to enhance and develop services to service users and their families. This will include participation in team case discussions. To ensure communication channels are consistent and understandable and that information provided is relevant and informed. To maintain effective consumer confidentiality, ensuring adherence to NELFT and own Service policies, the Data Protection legislation and the Freedom of Information Act.

The inpatient teams are continually developing clinical care standards and are currently working on initiatives including Safe wards, Relational Security See Think return for your hard work, NELFT is committed to promoting continued professional development and providing high quality supervision. NELFT is also committed to providing quality psychosocial interventions within acute and crisis services. For those with an interest in psychological interventions, opportunities will be available to staff in providing low intensity psychological interventions and to receive supervision from the psychology team. Mentoring and coaching including shadowing opportunities are available within the services as well as a range of courses in partnership with the local universities.
