This role is a real game-changer, so we're looking for a seasoned pro who doesn't just play the field but lives and breathes social media. You'll need to have significant social media experience at a senior level, rather than a general/broad marketing background.

With football being one of our biggest sports, it's crucial that you have a strong grasp of the game. You'll be leading a dynamic team of 4 social community managers, ensuring our content hits the back of the net every time and keeps our customers cheering for more.

What you will do 

  • Own the budget and develop a costed strategic plan for each brand’s social media output to meet the agreed social media strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a tone of voice and a tactical approach across all relevant social media channels that reflects and reinforces each brand’s personality and core characteristics, working closely with each of the Heads of Brand Marketing.
  • Work in close collaboration with PR heads of each brand to ensure that the social media conversations and activities are fully aligned with the PR teams’ activities, and to establish and implement a day-to-day communication process that supports this.
  • Attend planning meetings for major events and initiatives, and assist in the development of campaigns, which might have social media at the heart of them or require social media support for them.
  • Develop ideas for social media content, in line with each brand marketing strategy and personality, and for creating content, either using internal resource, or where requires sourcing third party creative agency support.
  • Manage relationships with third party content creators and content amplifiers, alongside the PR and Brand marketing teams, in line with each Brand strategy.
  • Produce regular reports in line with agreed social media metrics on the performance of each social media brand team, against established strategic objectives. 
  • Be the social media expert for the UK Brands, staying abreast and informed of all developments in the rapidly evolving world of social media, to ensure that the social media strategies for both brands, reflect the latest developments and trends in the social media sector.

Who you are 

  • Proven professional experience in a social media role; working on an established and well-known brand either agency or client side.
  • A strong interest/understanding of football.
  • Experience of managing or supervising a team.
  • Demonstrated excellence in content creation and copywriting with a high level of interest in, and knowledge of, a range of sports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Confident in conversing with senior stakeholders regularly.
  • We’re in the sports business so you’ll need to be willing and able to work evenings and weekends on a shift pattern.
  • Good proficiency in photoshop, video editing software, MS Office, Google Analytics and social specific analytics platforms.
