We are recruiting for a Fleet Maintenance Manager to be based at our Fleet Workshop facility, at Pinkston Road, Glasgow.
The successful candidate may be required to work from other Scottish Ambulance Service Workshops, on occasion and if required.
The successful candidate will lead a team of 22 skilled maintenance and support staff ensuring the safe and efficient provision of over 300 vehicles and associated equipment supporting patient care.

The successful candidate will:
• Be highly motivated, able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team, in a busy working environment and have experience of using Fleet Management systems and other IT packages e.g. Microsoft Word/Excel.
• Have experience in leading a large skilled team in a busy vehicle maintenance facility, the workshop operates 24hrs from Monday morning to Friday evening, also covering Saturday and Sunday.
• Provide support out of hours as necessary to give expert guidance/advice on vehicle related issues.
• Generate positive working relationships, ensuring the highest standards in a safe working environment respecting and promoting our Service Values.
• Have good organisational skills to effectively prioritise meeting timescales/deadlines in a fast-changing environment and be able to communicate clearly and confidently all levels.
• Hold a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence, by examination, or provide evidence of working towards the qualification and attain the qualification within 12 months of appointment.
• Have undertaken an automotive apprenticeship and be qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or comparable qualification) or equivalent experience.
• Have comprehensive knowledge of vehicle legislation, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Hold a recognised H&S qualification, such as IOSH, or provide evidence of working towards the qualification and attain the qualification within 12 months of appointment.
• Demonstrate a sound knowledge of budgetary control, controlling and delivering projects to set timescales and within budgetary limitations.
• Hold a full driving licence (B). C1 entitlement or attainment within 12 months is desirable (support may be available to attain this and can be discussed at interview).


This is a full-time position working 37 hours Monday to Friday. You will also be required to be undertake occasional overtime and public holiday working, and participate in an on-call rota, all paid at the appropriate enhanced rate.

Shifts and working hours may be subject to change due to reduction in the working to 36 hours and in line with Agenda for Change.
