UHB recently successfully recruited 2 Senior Radiographers, we are now looking to add more staff to our fantastic team. We are looking for confident, highly motivated, and forward thinking Senior Radiographers (B6) with a passion for patient care and service development.

The department has undergone significant change with the new Head of Operational Workforce and our Radiotherapy Lead Manager implementing programmes of work aimed directly at supporting our excellent Radiographers in their personal development as well as ensuring we have a culture of excellence and a professional approach to all we do. As a Senior Radiographer you will get 1:1 additional support and development from our band 7's and 8's and be involved in department led programmes aimed at your development to support your career aspirations

The Radiotherapy service at QEHB, has circa 100 staff, provide approximately 4500 new patients per year with world class radiotherapy treatments. The service is of the highest calibre and makes us a leading department, providing exemplary patient care twinned with the latest in Radiotherapy technology that sees us treat over 300 patients per day.

Successful applicants will be joining a team that delivers one of the highest percentages of IG-IMRT treatments in the and treats a large number of SABR patients for all commissioned indications, all our breast patients are treated with SGRT & DIBH is offered to all appropriate patients who have left sided breast cancer.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced radiographer with proven NHS clinical and supervisory skills responsible for supporting a band 7 on a treatment unit and working as part of a team of radiographers to provide safe and accurate highly specialised radiotherapy treatment for patients.

You will manage a clinical workload ensuring that all treatments and procedures are delivered safely and correctly whilst maintaining high standards of technical ability and patient care. There is a requirement to work at an advanced level promoting best practice, giving expert advice, support and guidance to junior staff and the multidisciplinary team.

We have a variety of specialised equipment including two Phillips CT scanners, CyberKnife, two Tomotherapy HD units, Radixact, HDR, and six Elekta linear accelerators. Four of the linear accelerators have AlignRT installed. You will have opportunity to be rotated throughout the various treatment rooms we have.

All new staff will have a flexible approach to working hours to accommodate service demands as there is a requirement to routinely cover extended day working Monday to Friday between to 8pm. Additionally there is a requirement to work bank holidays and some occasional weekend working.

You will also work with the wider band 7 team on operational input into the department and staff related matters as well as providing coaching support to shape the development of junior staff.
