Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint 3 Senior Therapeutic Radiographer Team Supervisors who are enthusiastic, dedicated, and innovative, with a strong commitment to patient care and service enhancement.

The department is currently experiencing significant transformation under the guidance of the new Head of Operational Workforce and the Radiotherapy Lead Manager, who are implementing new initiatives aimed at supporting our exceptional Radiographers in their professional growth while fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism in all our activities.

The Radiotherapy service at our institution, comprising approximately 100 staff members, caters to around 4500 new patients annually, delivering top-tier radiotherapy treatments. Our service is recognized for its high standards, making us a leading department that combines exemplary patient care with cutting-edge Radiotherapy technology, treating over 300 patients daily.

Successful candidates will join a team that achieves one of the highest rates of IG-IMRT treatments and accommodates a significant number of SABR patients across all commissioned indications. All breast patients receive SGRT, and DIBH is available for all suitable patients diagnosed with left-sided breast cancer.

You will be part of a team that is deeply committed to the development of radiographers, with opportunities for staff to present their work at esteemed conferences such as ESTRO and UKIO.

Key Responsibilities

As a highly skilled radiographer, you will oversee a treatment unit and lead a team of radiographers to ensure the delivery of safe and precise specialized radiotherapy treatments.

You will manage a clinical workload, ensuring that all treatments and procedures are executed safely and accurately, while upholding high standards of technical and patient care. An advanced level of practice is required, promoting best practices and providing expert advice, support, and guidance to junior staff and the multidisciplinary team.

You will collaborate with the broader band 7 team on operational matters within the department and staff-related issues, as well as provide mentoring and coaching to facilitate the development of junior staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting 1:1 meetings, appraisals, and work programs to support the growth of your team members.

As Team Supervisors, flexibility in working hours is essential to meet service demands, including the ability to cover extended day shifts from Monday to Friday until 8 PM. There will also be a requirement to work on bank holidays and occasionally on weekends.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the Radiotherapy team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and contribute to shaping the department and the future of its staff.
