This is a brand new role for UHB which is why this is truly an exciting opportunity. There is no predecessor to compare to, no preconceived plan for delivery, just the opportunity to really develop the role and support the Radiotherapy Lead Manager (RLM) in both a Staff Management / Development & Clinical capacity.

The Radiotherapy division consists of circa 90 staff made up of Operational & Technical Leads, Consultant Radiographers and a wider patient administrative team. Collectively this incredible group ensure the development & provision of a high quality, safe service to all our patients and colleagues.

The management and development of the team is the highest priority, and as the new Operational Lead you will provide leadership across the multi-disciplinary group that will shape the future of the department.

Working closely with the RLM and Director of Operations for Div 5, you will promote innovation and creativity, explore new ways of working, develop staff, provide guidance and support to senior leaders and work towards building a culture that will create a fantastic environment for all staff to feel part of.

In addition you will support the everyday clinical demands on the department deputising for the RLM when needed and acting as the Radiation Protection Supervisor ensuring compliance with IRR2017.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Where you will differ is your drive to ensure that your staff are supported, empowered, and encouraged to develop themselves. You will be a champion for culture change; inclusivity and diversity will be paramount in your plans to shape the department, and your actions will promote a team approach and can do attitude from the very top to the equally important support staff.

As a people person you will understand how to approach this new role, how to develop the processes and procedures and implement your ideas, you will be used to working with people in a pressurised environment and driving change. You will bring ideas and ways of working that will really develop the department and solidify its reputation as a successful and dedicated team.

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Qualified Radiographer (e.g. Diploma of the College of Radiographers - Therapy / Degree in Therapeutic Radiography)
- Current state registration
- Attendance of recent relevant post graduate courses and study days
- Evidence of interest and commitment in working towards further professional development and qualification

**Desirable**:

- Evidence of relevant MSc level study
- Postgraduate qualification in Management Studies or equivalent

**Experience**:

- Experience of working clinically at a senior radiographer grade with evidence of leading and organising a team of radiographers
- Significant post graduate experience on a wide range of radiotherapy equipment to include recent and extensive experience at management level.
- Experience in assessing and teaching radiographers and trainee radiographers
- Experience of developing staff clinically and professionally
- Specialist knowledge of cancer pathology and disease patterns
- Specialist knowledge of clinical radiotherapy including potential radiation risks, acute patient side effects and their effective management
