**Job summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity and a new key position within our Senior leadership team for a highly motivated person with substantial experience to be the lead for quality, governance, assurance and compliance.

We are looking for an innovative, committed person with exceptional communication skills who will lead with good example. Previous governance experience is essential and expert knowledge and experience will underpin oversight of the strategic and operational delivery in all aspects of quality assurance pertinent to the business of clinical governance within maternity that is safety centric.

Close working and liaison with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure triangulation of information and intelligence across the service, division and trust will be fundamental to support our teams and deliver our best service in a busy multi site maternity service providing care to women living in a broad and varied social demographic.

An informal visit and further conversation are strongly recommended.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The post holder will be responsible for:

- Providing support to the senior leadership team in the delivery of directorate wide, LMNS, regional and national initiatives.
- Reporting on matters for regulatory compliance, assurance, learning and quality improvement.
- Oversight and leadership of transformational work to ensure a continuous cycle of improvement for the service.
- Developing and delivering the quality & safety agenda.
- Identifying quality improvement and governance training requirements.
- Management responsibility.

GCSE/ O Level - English and Maths

Grade C or equivalent

Educated to degree level or equivalent

**Desirable**:
Post graduate qualification or equivalent

Recognised qualification in the field of

quality assurance, compliance and

governance or relevant experience

**Experience**:

Substantial experience in a senior

managerial and leadership role within

an acute healthcare setting which is

commensurate with the complexity and

size of the allocated area of

responsibility.

Expert knowledge of Clinical Audit &
Effectiveness

Expert knowledge of CQC compliance

Good understanding of quality

improvement techniques-clinical audit,

risk management, complaints

Knowledge and experience of leading

significant change to patient services,

delivering tangible and sustained

improvements.

Experience of developing and

maintaining active partnerships with

stakeholders in the development of

services.

Experience of improvement

measurement systems and

understanding of the role of

measurement in performance

improvement

Experience of directly line managing

and providing strategic leadership t

large numbers of specialist staff/ multidisciplinary service teams ranging from

bands 3-7

Experience of managing individual and

team performance through the setting

of objectives, PDPs and appraisals.
