An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Export Control Officer to join our Rolls Royce Submarines business in Derby.

As an Export Control and sanctions Subject Matter Expert (SME) , you'll be part of a team providing knowledge, guidance & advice on export control and sanctions matters. 

You willOperate within defined global processes & local policies to address business needs, collaborating with cross functional stakeholders as required. Seeking to improve processes where needed to enhance our export control compliance and providing key support to Rolls-Royce Submarines Limited (RRSL) in collaboration with the wider Defence Export Control and Sanctions Team. 

You will be joining a business that is expanding under AUKUS and exploring new opportunities in Novel Nuclear, Space and Terrestrial applications. With a scope that covers multiple sites, partners, end-users, and jurisdictions your knowledge and experience will help us deliver.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. What’s you’ll be doing:

Providing day to day SME Advice and guidance on export control and sanctions related queries, regulatory and procedural requirements. Supporting and liaising with internal and external parties to ensure compliant movement of items, articles, and assets. Implementing strategies for export control and sanctions compliance in line with defined standards and policies.  Driving process improvements in support of strategic and tactical requirements. Delivering training and communication on export control and sanctions. Appling for licences and approvals from the appropriate Regulator (UK, U.S. and other foreign regulators as appropriate). Ensure all licence approvals are loaded to the appropriate IT systems and the key stakeholders are informed. Supporting audits, assurance, and governance activities and more.

Specialist knowledge and experience of applying UK and International export control and sanctions regulations. Analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide compliant solutions, enabling day to business activities. Ability to work with limited supervision in a dynamic working environment. Excellent IT, written, presentation and verbal communication skills. Compliance background in a highly regulated industry. Problem solving, simplification and continuous improvement.

Preferable skills and experiences:

SAP and SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) systems. In a complex manufacturing sector.
