Glasgow is a vibrant city bursting with character and personality where you will find world famous visitor attractions, a contemporary food and drink scene and legendary nightlife. Within South Sector the AHP teams work together supporting each other to ensure we deliver high quality care for our patients.

It is essential that you are educated to Diploma/Degree level in occupational therapy and are registered with the HCPC. You should have significant post graduate experience with previous clinical experience in neuro rehabilitation.

The Hyper Acute Major Trauma Team is part of the adult West of Scotland Major Trauma Network. The current model of service delivery is on an in-reach basis within the QEUH, however as this is a new service and the model of delivery may change over time. Patients seen within this service have Category A rehabilitation needs as described within the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine (BSRM) guidelines. All patient have experienced a traumatic mechanism of injury, which has resulted in them having complex rehabilitation needs. The caseload varies from patients with Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness (PDOC), to those who are mobile with significant cognitive, communication & behavioural needs.

We are a specialist multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical neuropsychologists, dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists & rehabilitation support workers (band 3 & 4). We provide early intensive rehabilitation to patients who have complex rehabilitation needs who are located within various departments across the QEUH site. This may include critical care, Institute of Neuro Sciences (INS), Major Trauma ward & various general medical & surgical wards. We work closely with rehabilitation medicine consultants from Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (NRU) & link in with Older Peoples Services (OPS) staff for advice & support as required.
