Are you an Occupational Therapist with experience of working in a Forensic Setting?

Are you looking for a move into a managerial position and the opportunity to develop your leadership skills?

If so, come and join us within our Oxford Health Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT).

The SCFT is an multidisciplinary team (MDT) providing support to adults being discharged from our secure inpatient wards into the community.

Our team provides in reach into Oxford Health's secure hospital wards and works collaboratively with the inpatient teams to support a smooth transition into the community. The aim is to build trust and rapport so that our patients feel supported through this transition period.

Please apply if you are passionate about working with adults and their families and have experience within forensic mental health. You will need to have a professional qualification in Occupational Therapy.

The role would suit applicants who enjoy problem solving, can remain calm under pressure and have experience of using the recovery model to inspire hope.

We can offer this role as a Band 6 to Band 7 developmental opportunity if you're looking to make your first steps into a more senior role.

Main duties of the job

To promote the mental and emotional health of adults in our specialist community forensic teams. Understanding their needs, identifying risk and inspiring hope. To prevent deterioration in mental health by early identification of relapse signatures. To have a wide range of knowledge in approaches to build rapport and trust with difficult to engage adults. To have excellent communication skills and to be able to modify communication styles to meet individual service user needs.

We will need you to have:

Experience of working with adults with a diagnosis of personality disorder in a variety of settings Experience of work within a multi-disciplinary team and with multi-agency professionals The ability to relate and provide accessible services to a diverse community without judgement Good IT and computer recording skills to record assessments and treatment records onto RIO Knowledge and skills in risk assessment, management and safeguarding Be able to deliver a range of evidence-based interventions

Job responsibilities

We'll provide you with a comprehensive induction programme, including a range of shadowing opportunities to fully support the post holder in the role. The team fully supports and delivers regular managerial, clinical, and safeguarding supervision to build upon confidence, competence and commitment to developing self and the role, so there's plenty of opportunities to share learning and expertise.

In this role, 50% of your time will be delivering direct Occupational Therapy treatment interventions the remaining 50% of your time will be providing clinical supervision and professional leadership to the Occupational Therapists working in the SCFT's.

Other key duties include:

To ensure that all of the Occupational Therapy team have access to monthly clinical supervision. Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties and develop carefully tailored interventions. Use highly developed communication skills in working with external agencies/referrers To contribute to MDT risk assessment and risk management for patients in the SCFT To use standardised outcome measures to assess the impact of Occupational Therapy Interventions. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. To maintain accurate and accessible health care records according to Trust policy and Information Governance requirements. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate treatment plans are agreed to meet the individual patient's needs. To travel to Oxford for meetings as required. Person Specification
