Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for experienced CAMHS Liaison and Crisis Support Occupational Therapist (Band 7) with generic CAMHS experience to work within our pathway.

This is a full-time permanent post and is part of a well-established team where professional development and innovative work is actively encouraged. The post holder will work Monday to Friday 9-5 to provide specialist Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment and intervention to children and young people of the LIST Home Treatment pathway across Milton Keynes, using evidenced based practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions for young people experiencing mental health crisis. The post will be based within MKUH and the post holder will be expected to maintain the close links with the Hospital and other stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The post will include professional and practice development and ensuring high quality client centred care is delivered. The post holder will lead by example to maintain high standards of care and practice and to empower colleagues to take on a greater range of clinical tasks to improve client care in the specialist CAMHS service. The post holder will be a highly visible presence in clinical practice and be accessible to clients and their families. They will provide advice and expertise in the management of complex cases.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to manage a service user case load as defined by the LIST service.

To take the lead in planning and initiating HTT OT provision in collaboration with other professionals, specifically to meet the child and/or young persons needs.

Where locally agreed, to take responsibility as the key person within the home treatment pathway, for a defined case load of children and/or young person belonging to the LIST and those whose needs can be best met by the specialist skills of an HTT Occupational Therapist.

To take a lead on the development of the OT service within the LIST HTT, developing appropriate OT pathways, processes, and protocols.

To assess the child and/or young persons mental state and identify any significant risk factors pertaining to community re-integration and undertake risk assessments with other health professionals.

Essential

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy. HCPC Registered Practice Placement Educator's Course

Management and leadership training Post graduate training specific to clinical speciality

Significant post qualification experience working in mental health services Experience in using a range of standardised OT assessments. Experience in completing risk assessment tools Experience of managing complex caseloads Experience of supervising and appraising staff / unqualified staff; recruitment and workforce planning

Experience in a variety of mental health settings Experience in Serious Incident investigations

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Individual and group work assessment and intervention skills. Clear concept of Occupational Therapy and models of practice. Excellent communication skills written, verbal, listening and proficient use of up to date systems of communication IT systems, e-mail, fax, telephone etc

Desirable

Delivery of formal presentations and teaching sessions. Chairing of senior meetings
