Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant – Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated Humanities Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position is set to begin as soon as possible and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this position is between £419.25 and £500 per week.
Role Overview:
As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting both teachers and students within the Humanities department, which may include subjects such as History, Geography, Religious Studies, or Social Sciences. This role is perfect for recent graduates considering a career in education or looking to gain practical experience in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Assistance: Support Humanities teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons. Your role will involve working closely with students, helping them to understand complex topics and assisting with class activities. You may work with small groups or provide one-on-one support to students who require additional help.
Intervention Support: Provide targeted support to students who may be struggling with specific Humanities subjects. This might involve leading small group sessions focused on improving knowledge, skills, and understanding in areas such as historical analysis, geographical skills, or ethical debates.
Resource Development: Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials. This could include creating lesson resources, preparing visual aids, or gathering research materials to enhance classroom learning. Your input will help ensure that lessons are well-supported and engaging.
Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive and conducive learning environment by supporting classroom behaviour policies. You will assist in managing student behaviour during lessons, encouraging respect and participation, and ensuring that students remain focused on their studies.
Monitoring Progress: Track the progress of students you work with and report back to teaching staff. This will involve observing student engagement, assessing their understanding of the material, and providing feedback to help tailor future lessons to meet their needs.
Extracurricular Activities: Support and participate in Humanities-related extracurricular activities, such as history clubs, geography field trips, or debate teams. These activities provide students with opportunities to explore their interests further and apply their learning in practical settings.
Pastoral Care: Offer support to students on both academic and personal matters. You will be someone students can turn to for guidance, helping to foster a supportive and nurturing school environment.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Humanities department and other school staff to ensure that students receive comprehensive support. Collaboration will be key to ensuring that students are fully supported in their academic journey.
Requirements:

- Access to professional development and training opportunities through Teaching Personnel.
- The potential for the role to become permanent, offering long-term career development.
