We have an exciting opportunity available, here at Barking and Dagenham College, for a Lecturer - BTEC & Access to Science.

You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £24,872 p.a. - £43,440 p.a. inc. London Weighting.

NB; An additional market-rate supplement of up to £10k may be available for this role, depending upon an individual's skills and experience.

The purpose of the Lecturer - BTEC & Access to Science role:

Teach and assess on one or more of the courses delivered, or serviced, by the curriculum area and contribute to the development of existing and new, innovative provision, including the implementation of motivational, flexible and blended learning and cost effective teaching and learning styles

As our Lecturer - BTEC & Access to Science, you should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Hold a level 3 teaching qualification or be working towards an FE teaching qualification
  • Have a minimum of a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject such as Humanities, Science, Social Science, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Social Work, Youth and Community Work, Health or Law.
  • Experience in the 3 key areas of science, along with the relevant qualifications
  • Industry experience in the relevant areas
  • A TAQA 3/4 or A1/V1 assessor and IQA qualifications would be an advantage
  • A degree in a relevant subject would be an advantage

Key Responsibilities of our Lecturer - BTEC & Access to Science;

  • Plan and develops lessons, including the development of schemes of work
  • Develop and implement learner-centered assessment methods, with focus on constructive and development feedback for our students
  • Encourage, monitor and report on the attendance, progress and achievements of students
  • Ensure safe working environments for students and colleagues, enforce health and safety standard in your area, ensuring all students understand and comply
  • Undertake personal coaching and pastoral responsibilities for designated students in order to support them in their own development and future progression
  • Keep abreast of industry developments in your specialist area to ensure the relevance and continued employability of our students
  • Actively participate in continuing professional development around theory and practice within the education sector

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
