Canterbury, United Kingdom Decipher Group Full time

Lead commercial and strategic performance through people

Nurture a culture founded in the NZ's rural sector with heart

Inspire a long-term objective that connects performance with people

About the company

People Together is a core value of this exceptional and diverse business, Hazlett Limited with its heart founded in New Zealand’s rural sector. Hazlett was established in 2008 and has since grown to a thriving rural services business which includes livestock broking, funding, insurance and agronomy expertise.

A commitment by the Advisory Board and shareholders to long-term commercial performance through people has led to the decision to bring in a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take the business into the future. To do this successfully, we need a talented leader of leaders, with strong commercial capability and a deep connection to New Zealand’s rural sector. Is this you?

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Advisory Board, through the Chair, the CEO takes overall accountability for leading the successful implementation of the strategy and achieving the objectives set. In doing this, the CEO will, amongst other things:

  • Lead a high-performing and collaborative Executive Team in accordance with the values and behaviours expected; empowering them to achieve business objectives.
  • Champion a culture that holds its people at the centre of what the business does, keeping them safe and healthy, engaged and empowered to achieve.
  • Manage key and critical stakeholder relationships, ensuring clients, stakeholders and advisors are deeply connected to the Hazlett business and culture and contribute to achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Challenge the thinking of the teams on how the business operates to ensure each business function optimises opportunities and operates effectively, championing operational excellence.
  • Lead the consideration and development of new initiatives and opportunities that will enhance profitability, productivity, and achievement of strategic objectives.

We need a CEO who has leadership as a core capability; understanding that the role of the CEO is to ensure clarity of objectives, accessibility to resources to enable delivery and to clear the pathway to achievement of obstacles.

About you

To be successful as the CEO, you will have a deep connection to New Zealand’s rural sector and you will understand our people, our farmers and our industry’s key service needs. A natural leader without ego, you will have real strength to your character – people say that you are a leader with mana - and you know innately that your role as CEO is to enable your people and the business to succeed through your coaching and leadership.

Strongly relationship focused, you will demonstrate your connection to and understanding of the primary sector through the relationships you have fostered throughout your career. You don’t shy away from tough conversations and you form relationships based on integrity and mutual respect.

A seasoned commercial executive, you know how a business makes money and the commercial and strategic risks that a business might face. You have led through your share of commercial challenges and have taken the learnings on board.

If you are ready to step up and into this extraordinary organisation founded on a culture of “people together” then we want to hear from you.
