Job summary

Dorset Healthcare University Foundation Trust has an opportunity for the right candidates to join our CAMHS Gateway team. The role is specific and involves offering Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural interventions for Children and Young People.

All applicants will need to be qualified as Wellbeing Practitioners (WP CYP IAPT) - to enable delivery of treatment to children, young people and their families. ( Please only apply for this post if you have this qualification ).

We currently have three full time vacancies in CAMHS Gateway, working will be a mix of online and face to face delivery. Full or part time hours would be considered.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a developing service with high expectations for improving the outcomes for children and families in Dorset. CAMHS Gateway is a new Assessment and Brief Intervention Service operating across Dorset, the primary focus on providing high quality clinical assessment of young people and families, as well as delivering brief, needs led, evidence based clinical interventions.

Our Band 5 Wellbeing Practitioners receive line management, caseload management and clinical skills supervision as part of their role, deliver groups, work with families and we are always developing new ideas to engage with as many young people as we can.

Main duties of the job

You will have the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service with an aptitude for working with young people and families and a passion for the key principles and values of CYP IAPT. In return you will receive supervision and in line with the values and principles of CYP IAPT and you will be offered opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge and be involved in wider CAMHS local Transformation plans.

The Children and Young Persons Wellbeing Practitioner's are expected tobe:

Committed to providing high-quality, brief evidence-based treatment interventions for children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.

be familiar with the CYP IAPT core principles and have the relevant specialist training

be able to use and understand the value of outcome measures

Have the Ability to work as part of a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience of working with children, young people and families who experience mental health difficulties, especially depression and anxiety

You'll need to be able to facilitate group work and we will offer to train you if you don't have this experience yet; and

You'll need to be a car driver with access to a car (we work in a beautiful rural area and take our groups where they are needed most)

Job responsibilities

The successful post holders will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Community team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, primarily anxiety and depression.

It's an exciting time to be working in CAMHS, and part of the futurefor ourchildren and young peopleacross Dorset. CYP IAPT is just one of the ways we are helping to improve the outcomes for young people in Dorset who experience mental health problems.
