Job summary

The Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team (PERRT) at University College Hospital comprises critical care outreach and resuscitation practitioners who provide a 24/7 service to critically ill and deteriorating patients, alongside delivery of robust training programmes, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across the Trust.

The PERRT role is suitable for motivated individuals with strong leadership skills and extensive critical care [outreach] experience. It offers a fantastic opportunity to become expert in leading the management of deteriorating patients across the organisation, incorporating all 4 pillars of advanced practice.

This nurse-led team is well established and provides a career development pathway through bands 6 to is varied and flexible, with numerous clinical specialties, covering 3 main inpatient sites and a number of day care and outpatient settings, and a trustwide remit for resuscitation services.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

RGN, RN or equivalent professional qualification. Honours degree in relevant subject 3 years' experience at senior band 6 level (clinical and leadership). Advanced physical assessment course (Masters level) Recognised mentorship/ teaching course. Relevant post qualification clinical course (intensive care ) Masters degree or on Masters pathway / willingness to undertake Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Provider Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS/pILS Instructor Evidence of involvement in research or QI activity

Desirable

Evidence of leadership and management development Resuscitation Council (UK) EPALS or ALSG APLS Provider Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Instructor

Experience

Experience of working within a critical care outreach team Experience of 'learning from events' understanding of risk management/ governance, investigating incidents and closing the loop. Understanding of risk management/ governance issues related to resuscitation/ deteriorating patients' practices Experience of teaching MDT and responding to learners' individual needs. Experience of working as a band 6 within a Critical Care level 3 service Experience in managing deteriorating patients. Experience in managing cardiac arrests.
