The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support both students and teachers, leveraging your psychological knowledge to enhance student learning and well-being. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Student Support:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN) or mental health issues.
  • Use your understanding of psychological principles to help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assist students in developing coping strategies, resilience, and social skills.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Help prepare learning materials and resources tailored to individual student needs.
  • Aid in managing classroom behaviour, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of interventions for students with SEN.

Pastoral Care:

  • Provide emotional support to students, helping them navigate academic and personal challenges.
  • Collaborate with the school’s pastoral team to address student well-being and mental health concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding procedures.

Administrative Duties:

  • Help with classroom organisation and management.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom displays and resources.
  • Support the teacher with marking and providing feedback on student work.

Extra-Curricular Activities:

  • Participate in and support school events and extra-curricular activities.
  • Help organise and supervise educational trips and activities.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff members to support student learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on student progress when necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology, with a strong academic record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in a school setting or through voluntary work, is desirable but not essential.
