Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Levenshulme

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a dedicated Psychology Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role begins in October and continues until the end of the academic year, with the opportunity for a permanent position based on performance.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the support system within the school, assisting both teachers and students. This role is ideal for recent Psychology graduates or those considering a career in education or child psychology. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students in class, especially those with special educational needs (SEN) or requiring additional learning support
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, particularly in subjects related to Psychology, Social Sciences, and Personal Development
  • Working one-on-one or in small groups with students who may need extra support with their academic or personal development
  • Helping to implement intervention strategies for students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
  • Offering tailored assistance to students with emotional and mental health needs, ensuring they remain engaged in their studies and school life
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers, ensuring that students' needs are met through appropriate academic or emotional support
  • Assisting in the planning and creation of lesson materials that cater to various learning styles and abilities
  • Supporting the pastoral care team in promoting student well-being and mental health awareness across the school
  • Helping manage classroom behavior and encouraging positive social interactions between students
  • Contributing to the school's inclusive and supportive environment by fostering strong relationships with students and staff

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field
  • Strong interest in supporting young people, particularly in relation to their mental health and academic development
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults, ideally in an educational or care setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students
  • A proactive, empathetic approach with a passion for promoting mental health and well-being in schools
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members
