The position offers competitive weekly pay ranging from £419.25 to £500.

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school's support team, working closely with students who require additional assistance to reach their full potential. Your understanding of psychological principles will be key in helping these students overcome barriers to learning, whether they stem from behavioral challenges, emotional difficulties, or special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide direct support to students with a range of needs, including those with learning difficulties, behavioral issues, or mental health concerns. Your role will involve helping them engage with their studies and develop strategies for success.

  • One-on-One Mentoring: Offer tailored, one-on-one support to students, using your psychology background to help them manage anxiety, improve focus, and build resilience. Your guidance will be crucial in helping these students navigate their educational journey.

  • Group Sessions: Assist in leading small group sessions focused on social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH). These sessions will aim to improve students’ interpersonal skills, emotional regulation, and overall well-being.

  • Classroom Assistance: Work alongside teachers to create an inclusive classroom environment, ensuring that all students, particularly those with additional needs, can participate fully in lessons. This may include helping to differentiate lesson content or providing in-class support.

  • Behavioral Support: Collaborate with the pastoral team to implement effective behavior management strategies. This will involve monitoring student behavior, providing feedback, and helping to develop personalized behavior plans.

  • Resource Development: Help develop and adapt educational materials to meet the diverse needs of students. Your contributions will ensure that all students have the resources they need to succeed.

  • Administrative Support: Assist the SEN department with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, report writing, and coordinating with external agencies. Your organizational skills will be essential in maintaining a smooth operation.

  • Extracurricular Activities: Participate in the school’s extracurricular programs, particularly those focused on mental health and well-being. Your involvement will help promote a positive school culture and support student development outside the classroom.

  • Professional Development: Engage in training opportunities offered by Teaching Personnel and the school to enhance your skills and knowledge. This role is ideal for a psychology graduate interested in pursuing a career in educational psychology, teaching, or related fields.

Requirements:

  • A recent Psychology graduate with a strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine interest in supporting young people.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in an educational or support capacity, is highly desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Benefits:

  • Weekly pay of £419.25 to £500.
  • Valuable experience in a supportive school environment, with the potential for a permanent role.
  • Access to ongoing professional development through Teaching Personnel.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
