Teaching Personnel is on the lookout for a dedicated and empathetic Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology to join a secondary educational institution rated 'Good' by Ofsted. This full-time position offers an opportunity to start immediately and will last until the academic year concludes, with the possibility of a permanent role based on performance. The compensation for this position ranges from £419.25 to £500 weekly.

Position Summary:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Psychology, you will be essential in aiding students' academic and emotional growth, utilizing your background in psychology to provide personalized support. This role is particularly suited for graduates aspiring to gain practical experience in an educational setting, especially those interested in pursuing careers in teaching, educational psychology, or child and adolescent mental health.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Individual and Group Assistance: Deliver focused support to students, both one-on-one and in small groups, assisting them in overcoming educational challenges and reaching their academic goals. You will be key in creating a positive and effective learning atmosphere.
  • Emotional and Behavioral Guidance: Apply your psychological expertise to assist students dealing with emotional or behavioral issues. This may involve helping them develop coping mechanisms, enhance emotional regulation, and foster resilience.
  • Classroom Support: Collaborate closely with educators to facilitate lessons, manage classroom dynamics, and support students in their learning journey. You will aid in the preparation of educational resources, ensuring that all students can fully engage with the curriculum.
  • Support for Special Educational Needs: Work alongside the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to assist students with specific educational requirements. Your insights will help tailor interventions to meet these students' unique needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support.
  • Progress Monitoring: Consistently track and evaluate the progress of the students you assist, maintaining comprehensive records and providing feedback to educators and guardians. Your observations will be crucial in shaping future educational strategies and interventions.
  • Mental Health Advocacy: Foster mental health awareness within the school, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable discussing their concerns. You will play a vital role in the school's pastoral care team, offering guidance and support as needed.
  • Engagement with Parents: Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them updated on their child's progress and well-being. Your interactions will help build a strong partnership between home and school, ensuring a unified approach to the student's development.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: Uphold the school's dedication to safeguarding by ensuring the welfare and safety of all students. You will be vigilant in identifying and reporting any concerns, contributing to a secure and nurturing educational environment.
