Job summary

A unique key position has arisen within the Sheffield Hand Centre for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Plastic Trauma. We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate and experienced skilled nurse to join the expert team supporting all the MDT, patients and carers.

To create an infrastructure to support Hand Centre and ward staff to continually develop in specialized wound management and be a supportive, accessible resource to colleagues when managing patients' needs. The role will involve delivering care to inpatients and outpatients, including nurse-led complex wound clinics.

The successful candidate should exercise autonomy and make critical judgements on specialist wound management ensuring high standards of care are delivered to patients. Maintaining a positive impact on the quality of care provided and patient satisfaction whilst contributing to the ongoing development of the service.

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE

To work as a Specialist Nurse for the Plastic Trauma Team supporting all the multidisciplinary team, patients and carers. Exercising autonomy and making critical judgements using specialist wound management knowledge ensuring high standards of care are delivered to patients.Maintaining a positive impact on the quality of care provided andpatient satisfaction. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Plastic Surgery Serviceand support the development of clinical protocols, guidelines and practice within them.

Assist in the delivery of formal and informal training and education to all disciplines of staff. Providing support to junior colleagues to constantly ensure high standards of dignified care are delivered. Be passionate about the role maintaining a caring and professional attitude at all times.

Registered Nurse with NMC Post registration at degree level or working towards Evidence of undergraduate or postgraduate study in Burns and Plastics or related subject Tissue Viability To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998. Evidence of continuing professional development

Work independently Experience of working and liaising with the multidisciplinary team and the important of this Manage complex wounds and evidencing recent experience flap and graft care, negative pressure, bedside debridement Manage and conduct nurse led clinics Understanding of standard setting, completing audits, and applying the findings to practice Evidence of informal teaching in a clinical setting
