Job summary

We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon with an interest in Sarcoma & Breast Reconstruction for a period of 12 months which has arisen within one of the country's largest teaching hospitals. The post is based at Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

The successful appointee will be part of a team of 16 Consultants and 1 associate specialist providing a Plastic Surgery service to Sheffield. Demand for plastic surgery services has shown consistent, steady growth over the past 5 years in terms of both inpatients (Elective and Non-elective) and outpatients (New and Follow-up). We are seeking a candidate who will contribute to the provision of the general plastic surgery workload and specialise in breast microsurgical reconstruction and skin cancer.

Should any further vacancies arise, shortlisted candidates will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will be expected to provide a specialist interest in sarcoma and microsurgical breast reconstruction as well as provide a supportive role to the skin cancer service and other areas of complex soft tissue reconstruction on an occasional basis. This is a dynamic department with very close working relationships with many other specialty areas.

Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
