Job summary

This busy purpose built Haematology/Oncology Unit is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and compassionate individual with good organisational and communication skills, to compliment the existing unit is comprised of a Day-Care Unit with a 14 chair treatment area, The day unit is very busy seeing approx. 250 patients per unit's activities include the administration of chemotherapy, supportive care, stem cell transplants and an integrated clinical trials unit. Training would be provided for chemotherapy have two full time posts in the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit which operates shifts of 8-6pm Monday - SaturdayWe actively support professional development through provision of places on National Study Days/Conferences where appropriate. In addition we have a unit based Practice Educator to support our:Local induction programmeUniversity Accredited Chemotherapy CourseUniversity Accredited Haematology CourseIn-house education programme.

Please note this position is not open to Newly Qualified Staff Nurses.

Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital

Qualifications

Essential

NMC registered Nurse. Recognised teaching qualification Degree/Masers level Specialist course

Desirable

1st level degree or working towards. Physical Examination of the Adult Advanced Communication Skills / Counselling course.

Experience

Essential

Demonstrable experience within Haematology and Oncology. Experience of multi-professional working Experience of teaching. level Specialist course.

Experience of audit and research.

Technical skills competencies

Essential

Technical/clinical competencies relevant to practice role including IV drug administration, cannulation and phlebotomy, accessing central lines, Administration of chemotherapy. IT literacy using a range of current and relevant packages. Retrieve relevant investigation results. Teaching and presentation skills. Ability to motivate and lead a team. Project and change management skills Presentation skills. Problem solving skills. Planning and prioritisation skills Commitment to personal and professional development of others.
