Job summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Senior Manager to join our team and lead our Patient Safety activities with strategic direction, visionary leadership, and the development of effective frameworks. In this senior managerial position, you will play a critical role in shaping and enhancing our patient safety initiatives, ensuring that our organisation upholds the highest standards of patient care and safety.

This is a hybrid role, with the option to work in either Norfolk or Suffolk and remotely too.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare management and patient safety, bringing both innovative ideas and proven strategies to the role. You will be responsible for guiding and supporting our staff at all levels, fostering a culture of continuous learning, transparency, and improvement. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving forward our commitment to learning from incidents and implementing best practices across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

By working closely with Non-Executive Directors, Executive Directors, Commissioners, and other stakeholders, you will build and maintain proactive and effective working relationships that are vital to our mission. Your role will involve being a visible and accessible leader, providing essential support and guidance to healthcare professionals, managers, and staff, ensuring that patient safety remains at the forefront of our operations.

Job responsibilities

Strategic Leadership, providing strategic direction and leadership to the Trusts Patient Safety activities. Relationship Management: Develop and maintain proactive and effective working relationships with Non-Executive Directors, Executive Directors, Commissioners, staff at all levels within the Trust, and other local health organisations. Support and Guidance, be visible and accessible, providing lead support and guidance to healthcare professionals, managers, and staff in all aspects of patient safety. Incident Management oversee the Trust's Serious Incidents requiring investigation process, ensuring a coordinated, systematic, transparent, and focused approach. Learning from Mortality, manage the Learning from Mortality process, ensuring the Trust learns from every incident. Duty of Candour lead the Duty of Candour process, promoting transparency and honesty in patient care. Confidential Inquiries overseeing the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide and external reviews, including Domestic Homicide Reviews. Manage the staff within the Patient Safety function, fostering a supportive and effective team environment. Person Specification

Essential

Of working with Service users, carers, stakeholders and members of the public Working with internal and external stakeholders including ICB to deliver a shared agenda. Providing complex and detailed reports up to both internal and external parties ICB and committees of the Board. Managing staff, including undertaking supervision and appraisals

Skills

Essential

Proficient with the use IT software Word, Excel. Conflict resolution, facilitation and negotiation skills Proactive approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

Post graduate qualification (masters) in a relevant subject or equivalent demonstrable experience
