Norwich, United Kingdom Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Day Procedure Unit Ward team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is part of one of the major elective surgery Units in East Anglia, treating an approximate 14,000 patients in 2019, and playing a vital role in the elective surgery recovery plan since COVID-19. Following the Nationally recognised British Association of Day Surgery Directory, the ward is continually reviewing and expanding its services to more patients with greater complexity of procedures. We are currently looking for a Patient Flow Administrator to join our busy dedicated day surgery ward.

Our Trust’s values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence
- PRIDE are very important to us and here is how they relate to our work in the Unit:
Supporting the Trust PRIDE values means having the ability to communicate in a personable, approachable, and respectful manner to patients and colleagues. It supports the development of instant and positive relationships within the Day Procedure Unit ward environment and facilitates the individual to work inclusively and collaboratively with our colleagues in surgery to provide provision of excellent care. The highest level of integrity and honesty is expected and feedback from the monthly Family and Friends audit confirm most respondents value the care they receive.

As part of the DPU ward team the opportunity is available to proactively manage patient flow within the ward ensuring that day case capacity is fully utilised. The ward embraces the chance for staff development, and the individual will gain skills in proactively managing the ward patient bed booking system, gaining knowledge and experience at identifying capacity shortfalls and taking steps to ensure capacity is fully utilized.

Staff will work collaboratively within the team both independently and with direct supervision from others. They will work closely with the requirements of Trust and Departmental policies and procedures to ensure that patient pathways are correctly managed accordingly. Data collection and processing is vital for service improvement; therefore, they will assist the managing team with regular audits.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.
