NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. This is a fixed term position of 24 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 26 hour Band 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join a new Welcome Trust-funded clinical trial; Sleeping Better.

The trial will test the effectiveness of sleep interventions in people at risk of developing psychosis or people with a first episode of psychosis. 

The position is based within ESTEEM Early Intervention Service and you will also have close links with the School of Health and Wellbeing in the University of Glasgow. You will be responsible for the management of the site in Glasgow including the supervision of two Assistant Psychologists who will undertake recruitment for the trial and a third Assistant Psychologist who will deliver the Trial Therapy.

There will also be an opportunity for the post holder to deliver sleep interventions.

You will work closely with the site Principle Investigator, Professor Andrew Gumley, and the other clinical psychology colleagues within ESTEEM. The post is available initially for 24 months. 

You will be a clinical psychologist registered as a practitioner psychologist with the HCPC. You will require the ability to travel between sites within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde; this post requires a valid driving licence and access to own or other independent means of transport, along with flexibility to work some irregular hours occasionally to fir with the participant availability.
