The role of Assistant Clinical/Counselling Psychologist is a key position within our organization, supporting the professional psychological care of clients within our services. As an Assistant Psychologist, you will work under the supervision of a qualified Consultant Clinical Psychologist, providing psychological assessments and interventions to clients. You will also work independently, following an agreed plan and within the framework of our service policies and procedures.

The Assistant Psychologist will be part of our Learning Disability Psychology Department, which includes Consultant Clinical Psychologists, Principal Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, and Trainee Clinical Psychologists from the West Scotland DClinPsy Programme. Our department is committed to providing high-quality psychological care to our clients, and we are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Psychologist to join our team.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing psychological assessments and interventions to clients under the supervision of a qualified Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
  • Working independently, following an agreed plan and within the framework of our service policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with clients, families, and other stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a First or Upper Second Class honors degree in Psychology and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. You will also need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
