Job Description

Are you a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to make a difference in the lives of students with complex needs? Do you have experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant working with individuals who require additional support in an educational setting? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you Step Teachers are working with a "Good" Ofsted-rated school in Edgware and are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join them in a Supply role immediately or in September 2024, and will be joining a team that provides a foundation for life in a happy, high-achieving school, where all individuals have high expectations of themselves, respect each other and fulfill their true potential.

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEN, assisting with their educational and personal development.
  • The SEN Teaching Assistant should assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to implement tailored support plans for students with SEN.
  • The SEN Teaching Assistant should maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to comprehensive assessments and reports.

Requirements of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEN experience.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in different educational settings.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are desirable but not essential.
