Manchester, United Kingdom General Medical Council Full time

Team Manager (Specialist Applications)

The GMC are looking for a Team Manager in Specialist Applications to provide people and operational management of the Specialist Applications Team. The team is responsible for processing applications to the specialist and GP registers. You will manage Team Co-ordinator colleagues who are responsible for teams of advisers and assistants.

You will be responsible for ensuring applications are processed in accordance with defined procedures, targets are met, and that robust, high-quality decisions are issued within required timeframes.

The Specialist Applications Team Manager is responsible for many key stakeholder relationships and will manage the team’s response to appeals, assistant registrar decisions and audit. This role often requires leading on/contributing to improvement and high profile project work.

We’re looking for someone with excellent people skills, both in terms of line management and internal and external stakeholder relationship management.

You can find more detail on the tasks you will undertake, and the essential skills required for the role, in the job description.

You will receive a full induction and training on joining, with ongoing support provided in the role. This is hybrid working role. The role will average one day per week in the office but you will be expected to attend the office as required for the role. There will also be a requirement to travel for the role on occasion. You will be required to attend the office more frequently during the induction period.

This is a full time role but the GMC is happy to support a range of flexible working options. Flexible working requests will be considered in line with the policy.

How to apply for the role

Please provide a CV and covering letter. The covering letter should clearly set out how you meet the essential skills for the role, which are listed in the job description. You should also include a paragraph outlining your reasons for applying for the role.

We recommend no more than 2 sides of A4 for the covering letter, but it can be more if required.

We will assess the information you provide against the skills required for the role and let you know whether you will progress to the next stage of the recruitment process.

If you do not provide all the above, we will  not be able to progress your application.

Interviews are due to take place on Friday 20 September. Please note, these will be in person and candidates will also be required to complete a presentation. Further details regarding this will be sent to you if your application is successful. Following this, successful candidates will be invited to attend a second stage interview. Further details regarding this will be confirmed at a later date.

You’ll benefit from being part of an organisation that is genuinely committed to its people with several excellent benefits including:

30 days holiday with the option to buy and sell more A generous employer pension contribution of 15% Access to a range of learning and development opportunities designed to support your ongoing progression Flexible working patterns – up to an extra 5 days leave Attractive salary that’s reviewed annually Discounts at 100s of high street and online stores Discounted on site gym membership Private medical insurance Employee assistance programme Cycle to work scheme for those wanting a greener commute Bike lockers and shower facilities

We strongly believe that diversity of background and experience contributes to a broader collective perspective that will consistently lead to us being a better regulator. We are working hard to increase the diversity of our staff, and also the diversity of those we work with wherever we can, and we would actively encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply.

The GMC has committed to the Disability Confident employer scheme and supports the requirements of the Disability Confident interview scheme. If you have a disability and meet the cut-off mark for the essential criteria for this role as outlined in the person specification document, you will be offered an interview.
