Clinical Practitioner Co-ordinator for Trauma Orthopaedics

Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our well established trauma orthopaedics team as a clinical practitioner coordinator.
The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination of the trauma lists for patients under the speciality of Trauma and Orthopaedics.
They will be dealing with all the communication relating to surgery and the patient journey, including giving advice while waiting at home.
They will undertake a comprehensive patient history and perform basic clinical examination and investigations to complete clerking.
They will be required to contact patients facilitating admissions to have surgery if appropriate
The post holder will be expected to enhance service development, conducting relevant research, audit and QiP to ensure that outcomes are appropriately acted upon and disseminated both locally and nationally.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Clinical assessment of patients
Co-ordinate the pre and peri-operative care of trauma patients to achieve a seamless pathway for patients
Support higher level communication between self other professionals, patients and carer's
Mentor others, multi-professional input
Deliver education to multi-professional audience around specialty
Be a part of and undertake audit and QiP
Seek out opportunities to support own learning needs

Job responsibilities
Post holder will provide specialist advice (both in patients and outpatients) regarding orthopaedic pre-operative care to include:
o Wound management
o Plaster care
o Limb elevation/positioning
o Orthopaedic devices such as poly-sling, braces and splints
o Pre-operative starvation as per protocol
o Admission details for surgery
o Medication advice
Use clinical judgement to prioritise patient care.
Be able to assess risk and make effective risk management plans and contingency plans in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrate the ability to present cases to the multi-disciplinary team considering the range of care and treatment options available in line with the current evidence base and making recommendations regarding the appropriate course of action.
