This person will have a passion and drive to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and the community.

Compass Be is Barnsley's MHST and specialist service, delivering early interventions for mental health and emotional wellbeing. The service delivers evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate health needs. Our specialist interventions team offer more bespoke services in family support, healthy peer relationships, counselling, SEN and trauma focused cognitive behavioural therapy.

The role is advertised at Band E with progression to Band F upon starting the clinical supervision course. Salary increase for Band E will reflect additional responsibilities that the Trainee Supervising Practitioner will hold.

Main duties of the job

The Trainee Supervising Practitioner holds a caseload and undertakes the role of care co-ordinator for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs in educational settings. Working as an autonomous and accountable practitioner they assess, plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based interventions utilising skills and knowledge of CBT on an individual basis and in a group setting.

The Trainee Supervising Practitioner is also responsible for developing and disseminating the Whole School Approach offer and providing support, consultation and training to education staff within a school/college setting.

You will need to demonstrate in your application that you have a nationally recognised qualification meeting the requirements of the MHST training. examples include EMHP, CWP, mental health nurse, psychotherapy, or social work qualification which must be registered with the appropriate governing body. (BABCP or NMC or an equivalent)

Trainee Supervising Practitioners will be supported by the service to learn and develop skills which prepare them to undertake PG Certificate in Clinical Supervision up until this time. Candidates will be willing to undertake further training following their 2 years of experience of working to support the emotional health, wellbeing or pastoral needs of children.

Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network with other agencies. You must possess a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

Essential

Core professional qualification relevant to mental health nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, CWP, EMHP and must be committed to upholding registration if applicable Evidence of continued professional development Willingness to complete post Graduate Certificate in Supervision

Desirable

Therapeutic post graduate qualification (preferably in CBT) Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline

Experience

Essential

One year post-qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people , as an EMHP/ CYP-IAPT practitioner Experience of working in a community and/or educational environment Evidence of clinical development Collaborative working Experience of effective engagement with families and carers Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

Experience of leadership within Children and Young People clinical service areas Experience of providing mentorship Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision, ideally of practice related to education settings
